Hyperhidrosis treatment Sydney NSW

Anti-wrinkle injectables to relieve hyperhidrosis

Used worldwide since 1980 for the medical treatment of a number of spastic muscle conditions, this naturally occurring muscle relaxant acts by stopping the muscles from contracting.

It is now being used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), in particular in the underarm, hands and feet of people of suffering from this hormonal or stress related condition.

How does it work?

The series of injections blocks the nerve supplying the glands, thus, preventing the glands from producing excessive sweat.

What is the process?

There is no need for any preparation or for any anesthetic, the muscles to be treated are accurately located and the medication is injected into them using a fine needle. During your initial consultation, we will discuss with you how the treatment will be carried out.

Patients are instructed not to massage or rub or wipe the area vigorously within 4 hours because it is injected specifically into certain muscles and we don’t want it to disperse from the localised area.

How long does it take for the injections to work?

If the patient is a first-timer, they may not see anything for 10 to 14 days. However, for people who come back for subsequent injections, it often kicks in within a few days. There are just minor side effects such as possible bruising with the first treatment. Some people feel a mild, dull heaviness in the area that has been injected and this may last for several hours. This should not recur with subsequent treatments. Allergy and reactions to the product are extremely rare.

How long do results last?

Most results last between 4 to 5 months, however, this varies between patients as you may get longer or shorter duration. With the first treatment you should expect only 3 months and then this extends following further treatments.
