Time to Spring Clean Your Wellness Routine. Here Is Where to Start
A new season is the perfect excuse to check in with your health
We spring clean our homes, sort through our wardrobes, and sometimes even reassess our finances when a new season rolls around. But when it comes to our health routines, the food we eat, how much we move, the supplements we take. Most of us just keep doing what we have always done without stopping to ask whether it is actually working.
This spring, that is worth changing.
Check In With Your Body
A new season is a natural reset point. It is a chance to step back, look at what is working and what is not, and make some simple tweaks that can have a real impact on how you feel day to day.
At GMC, we always encourage our patients to think about their health as something that needs regular attention not just when something goes wrong. Your body's needs shift constantly, not just with the seasons but with your age, your stress levels, your lifestyle, and what is going on in your life at any given time.
That means the routine that worked for you six months ago might not be the best fit for you right now and that is completely normal.
Ask yourself a few simple questions:
- Am I sleeping well?
- Do I have enough energy to get through the day?
- Am I moving my body regularly?
- Am I eating in a way that makes me feel good?
- Are the supplements I am taking still right for my needs?
If the answer to any of those is no, spring is the perfect time to do something about it.
Are Your Supplements Still Right for You?
This is one of the most common things we see at GMC people taking the same supplements they started years ago without ever checking whether they still need them.
Madeline Calfas, cosmetic and laser expert, says supplements are one of the first things worth reviewing when you do a seasonal health check.
"Supplements are not 'set and forget'," Madeline says. "As our bodies' needs and requirements change, so too will our supplements. It is important to review what you are taking and cycle in and out what you do and do not need anymore."
Spring is a particularly good time to do this because our eating habits naturally tend to improve as the weather warms up. More fresh food, more variety, more time outdoors, all of which can shift your nutritional needs.
"Look at how your diet changes in response to the seasonal change and use that as a guideline," Madeline says. "Our eating generally tends to improve during spring, which means we will also automatically begin to improve our nutritional status."
For spring specifically, Madeline recommends looking at:
- Collagen: Spring is a great time to add a quality collagen supplement to support skin health as you head into the warmer months
- Magnesium: Supports energy, sleep, and stress management
- Vitamins D, A and K: Help keep your nutrient levels balanced as your diet and sun exposure shift with the season
As always, it is worth speaking with a healthcare professional before starting or stopping any supplement to make sure it is right for your individual needs.
Move in a Way That Works for You Right Now
Exercise is another area worth reassessing as the seasons change. If you have been struggling to fit activity into your day, warmer weather and longer daylight hours can make it much easier to get moving even just a daily walk can make a noticeable difference to your energy and mood.
On the flip side, if you have been pushing yourself hard and feeling run down, spring might be the time to ease off a little and focus on recovery, rest, and lower-intensity movement instead.
The goal is not to do more for the sake of it. It is to move in a way that actually supports how your body feels right now.
Small Changes Add Up
You do not need to overhaul your entire lifestyle overnight. Sometimes the most effective health reset is just a handful of small, consistent changes that you can actually stick to.
Pick one or two things from this list and start there:
- Swap a processed snack for something fresh and whole
- Get outside for at least 20 minutes of sunlight each day
- Review your supplements and book a check in with your healthcare provider
- Add one new form of movement to your week
- Set a regular bedtime and stick to it
A simple reset can go a long way
Spring is a great reminder that our health is not something we can set and forget. It needs regular attention, a little flexibility, and the willingness to adjust as our needs change.
