LED Light Therapy - Overview
LED Light Therapy is a professional non-surgical, non-invasive treatment with no downtime, used to stimulate the skin’s own renewal process using visible and near-infrared light suitable for the treatment of wound healing, scar reduction, and skin rejuvenation.
How does it work?
LED ( light emitting diode) light is a form of electromagnetic radiation with varying wavelengths of light that penetrate and are absorbed by the skin cells and tissues stimulating several benefits for the skin.
Does it work? Studies have shown that skin cells grow 150%-200% faster when exposed to the correct wavelength of LED light. It triggers biological changes that repair the skin at a cellular level and result in glowing, rejuvenated, healthy skin.
Will I get the same results from using my smaller at-home device?
There is a large range of at-home LED devices, however, the question remains as to whether these devices are emitting the right wavelength of light and if they are delivering sufficient energy to provide the biomodulation and therapeutic effects as the in-clinic devices.
What device do you use in-clinic? We use the HEALITE II LED device which has been statistically proven to provide the effective wavelengths for the correct time period. After LED treatment your skin is healthier and able to better heal itself after any trauma including surgery. We have found that LED treatments in the first 2-3 weeks post-procedure have been shown to reduce healing time dramatically.

Considerations
LED therapy is not painful, in fact quite the opposite. The procedure involves exposure to the appropriate wavelength of light by sitting under the headpiece for the required time period, a bit like sitting under a heat lamp. It is completely relaxing!
There are no known side effects of LED therapy, it is a completely safe exposure to electromagnetic radiation. There are benefits both locally at the skin level but also to any body tissue at a systemic level.
